A Partnership in Craft.
Allan Gildener was born and raised in south Kona. His work is inspired by the incredible variety of locally available tropical woods and the rich cultural history of the area. He especially loves to make round-bottomed calabashes, the traditional shape used by Hawaiian bowl makers going back centuries. His partner Sally embellishes them with freehand pyrography, drawing inspiration from the island's diverse cultural influences. Together they create functional and decorative art pieces that capture the essence of Hawaii's natural and cultural heritage.
